Submission Guidelines

Mario Loprete

General

Millennial Pulp is a literary magazine that celebrates twenty-first century art, whatever the medium. We are looking for previously unpublished work from artists who are passionate about their craft, whether it be with a paintbrush or a pen, or perhaps something else entirely.

  • Do not include any identifying information in your actual document, as submissions are read anonymously.
  • Please specify which genre your piece falls into in the “Genre” category on the Submittable form. If you are unsure, put “hybrid”.
  • Please provide a cover letter, including a short biographical statement.

Prose Guidelines

From tales of fantasy and fiction to the winding narratives of reality, prose can take the reader on a journey to another time and place. Only then does a person know what it is like to be in two places at once. For the purposes of this magazine:

  • Please submit work up to 3,000 words in length.
  • For Flash Fiction, send as many as 3 pieces for consideration.
  • Acceptable formats are .doc, .docx, .pdf

Poetry Guidelines

Poetry is the music of the heart, songs from the soul with lyrics out of a dream, and Millennial Pulp does not like to limit anyone's artistic expressions. That being said, just as with prose, the longer the piece the less likely it will fit within our pages. We would love to read it, but don't expect to get your 200 page epic poem published in this magazine anytime soon.

  • Submit up to 5 poems in a single document. Acceptable formats are .doc, .docx, pdf
  • There are no length requirements, but remember the longer the piece, the less likely it is to be accepted.
  • Acceptable formats are .doc, .docx, .pdf

Drama Guidelines

Drama gives us the unique opportunity to become someone else, even if it is only for a scene, and when it is done well, the actor can lose themselves within a character.  But the power of a performance has just as much to do with the writing as it does the actor themselves. Just as poor writing can ruin a great actor, so too can great writing elevate a poor actor.

  • Soft limit of 3,000 words, though keep in mind that layout has more to do with whether it will fit in the magazine than word count.
  • Acceptable formats are .doc, .docx, .pdf

Art/Photography Guidelines

Art is our way of making sense of the world around us. It allows us to experience things through other people's eyes, and there is no easy way to put guidelines on something like that. So send us whatever you have, we would love to see it. Here at Millennial Pulp we look for things that catch the eye and make you think. Send us a picture that says a thousand words!

  • For submission purposes, if you are submitting a large collection of work (we encourage this!), please compile all the images into a pdf catalog and send them in as one submission.
  • Acceptable formats are .jpeg, .png, .pdf

Not sure where your work belongs?

Have a riveting review or existential essay? How about that sheet music you wrote back in the day or the comic strip you've been too embarrassed to show anyone? SEND IT ANYWAY! Click "hybrid" in the genre box and explain further in your cover letter. We love receiving projects of all shapes and sizes, and exceptions can be made to any rule.

FAQs

When is your submission period?

Our submission period usually runs for the month of March, though this is subject to change. Subscribe to our email newsletters to keep up to date on everything Millennial Pulp.

How long is your average response time?

The response time varies from piece to piece. We try to be as quick as possible once our submission period ends, so that if it is not right for us you have a chance to submit it elsewhere. What we can tell you is that if it is taking a prolonged period of time you are likely under consideration for publication.

Do you accept simultaneous submissions?

We do! All that we ask is that you notify us as soon as possible once your work has been accepted elsewhere. Previously published work will not be accepted for Millennial Pulp Literary Magazine.

Do I have to be a "millennial" to submit to Millennial Pulp?

Absolutely not! The title is more a reflection of the fact that this journal is a collection of 21st century art, and we would hate to miss out on great art because of some weird bias.
